Astana
Astana, like a flower, has grown and blossomed in the middle of the hot steppe. The small provincial town of the 1990s has become the ultra-modern capital of the newly independent Kazakhstan.
The City is located in the north of the small Kazakh town of Sary-Arka. The river Ezil and several small right tributaries flow through the City. At the end of the 1970s, a reservoir was built on the river Vyacheslavskoye (today Astana), 70 km from the city, which today is the main water supply for the Capital. In the territories adjacent to the city there are many small sweet and salt lakes rich in fish.
Astana is a city where the possibilities of modern architecture have been revealed. The main idea of the city’s development is to embody a combination of the rationality of the West and the sophistication of the East, the grandeur of Europe and the originality of Asia in its architecture. The most advanced technologies and innovative methods of urban development of the 21st century were used in the construction of the city to change its appearance. The world-famous architects embodied their best projects here. The bridgehead for this was the left bank of the river Esil, which until recently was empty. The magnificent buildings of the new capital were built on a completely uninhabited area where high steppe grass was once mowed → 3D Map of the City.
