Samarkand
One of the oldest cities in the world, which is like a cradle of world civilization, capital of ancient Sogdiana and the empire of Amir Temur, at the same age as Rome and Athens. “Eden of the Old East”, ” The Pearl of the Muslim World” – that’s what the ancient and modern authors named Samarkand.
Samarkand is a fascinating destination, which attracts the attention of people all over the world with its impressive history and rich spiritual heritage. The Great Amir Temur once made Samarkand his Capital. He completely changed the image of the city. Samarkand was surrounded by a large fortress wall with six gates. The governor’s citadel was built in the western part of the city. Many Caravanserais and Shopping Arcades were built, new Streets were built and new Gardens with splendid palaces were laid out.
